Dough art is a fun and exciting craft, but as with all hobbies you will need a small work space on a kitchen table or desk every time you work. However, if you remain organized, it doesn't have to be messy and it can be easy to keep clean and tidy. 

There are so few items needed for dough art that you can put what items you need in a small box and keep them in your kitchen or a closet somewhere in your home where you can get to them easily.  When you're ready to use them, you can place them on a kitchen table or another flat surface close to your kitchen. Use a plastic tablecloth to protect the surface.

Any oven will do, but you need to be safe.  There is no real danger other than to follow normal oven-safe rules.  However, you must work with your children to prevent any accidents.  Also keep all dough, ingredients and tools away from your children and pets.   Keeping all that in mind, you can begin with your first project.
